Born in Jerusalem, 1950. Lives in London.
Dr. Gabriel Klasmer has exhibited in numerous centres and museums in Israel and abroad. He has been awarded several art prizes, including the prestigious Sandberg Prize (1990) from the Israel Museum. His work is in the collections of Israel’s major museums, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and many private collections. In 1996 Klasmer represented Israel at the São Paulo Biennial. He received his PhD from the Royal College of Art with research on the history and status of black and white painting. He is currently focusing on the creation of a series of mechanical devices that replace the human hand as a means of work. Klasmer also works as a Senior Tutor at the Royal College of Art in London, where he has been working in the Design Products department since 1998.
