She was born in Gijón in 1973, where she lives and works
Blanca Prendes graduated in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Salamanca and has developed her creative activity in Asturias, in Badajoz and for short stays in Germany. Her work was initially pictorial beginning of a process that underwent a major change in recent years, expanding her work to the exploration of new media and techniques, which becomes more important the design of parts and the conceptual development of ideas. In her new projects includes painting, but oriented from new parameters, as can be seen in her exhibition Lugares huecos (2005) in the gallery Dasto (Oviedo). The video stars in later projects as De Paso (2007) or En blanco (2009). She has also used a sticker in ¡Mira! (2004) or Desde-Hacia (2005) and in the series Suelos (2012) the support is the paving of her workshop. She has made artistic interventions in the public space on several occasions, as in the different editions of the Arte Público Barrio del Carmen project (Gijón). In 2007 continued teaching at the Escuela de Arte de Oviedo, where she directed “Motiva. XI Jornadas de Diseño Gráfico” and coordinated later the editions of 2009 and 2010. She has directed several exhibition and publishing projects as a teacher of that school, as the book Ayer soñé… (2012) partially produced in the fabLAB of LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial de Gijón. Along with other artists formed the collective La voz de mi madre in Badajoz, organizer of cultural activities of the city and head of management of the exhibition space El Convento until 2000. In 2009 she was the curator of the exhibition Desde mi ventana, in LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial de Gijón, initiative of the association Laboca, of which she is president since 2007.
