For the promotion of scientific, technological and innovation culture 2015 of FECYT has two fundamental objectives: to promote scientific vocations and to develop citizen science by involving society in the collection of oceanographic data.
Over the next two months, students will work with electronic devices that will collect real-time information on temperature and the amount of plankton in the ocean. Once built, the devices will be installed in marinas and fishing and recreational boats that will act as oceanographic platforms.
The data collection devices are based on Arduino, a free hardware platform designed to facilitate the use of electronics in multidisciplinary projects, which brings students and teachers closer to the maker and DIY philosophy.
Participating centers: IES Piles, Gijón; IESA Velina Cerra, Ribadesella and IES Galileo Galilei, Navia.
