Online presentation of the book Palabras del tiempo y del clima published by Bartlebooth and LABoral on the occasion of the exhibition Motores del clima. With the participation of Antonio Giráldez, Pablo Ibáñez, Pablo de Soto and Cristina Ramos.
Words of weather and climate bring together scientists, artists, engineers, architects, sociologists, media theorists and poets to build an arsenal of terms with which to confront the uncertain climatic futures that run through history, classical languages, science, local meteorologies and cutting-edge engineering.
Weather exists as an atmosphere that can be measured, it exists as an environment that is experienced, and it exists as chronological time in which we experience humidity, pressure, temperature and much more. It exists through maps, media and simulations; it connects us to the world and to each other, but it also makes us look at the different prevailing climates, which are both atmospheric and political. What would be the terms of weather that address concerns such as measurement, experience and time? What are the terms and uses of concepts that define a valuable artistic, design, cultural, technological and activist positioning in the face of climate? What words of and for weather refer to what we are experiencing? What terms speak to meteorological and weather-making engines, past, present and future?
