Superficies de contactu

A series of creative writing sessions based on dialogue with artists from the archive

22 October 2026

What new stories might emerge when viewing a work of art through the lens of literature? How can writing open up new avenues for interpreting artistic creation?

Superficies de contactu is a new series of literary creation that takes as its starting point the collections of the Archive of Asturian Artists at LABoral Centre for Art and Industrial Creation. Co-ordinated by the writer Inaciu Galán, this project aims to bring together two creative disciplines, drawing on the works and careers of the artists featured in the
Archive.

What does it involve?

Over the coming months, Sofía Castañón, Berta Piñán, Marta Mori, Diego Solís, María Esther García López and Esther Prieto will develop their own literary works based on research into and engagement with these materials.

Each participant’s working process will begin with an immersion in the Archive’s collections, from which they will select an artist and a work as a starting point for developing their own literary creation. The texts may take various forms, ranging from poetry and short stories to essays, chronicles or other hybrid forms.

Each process will culminate in an event open to the public, at which the participants
will share the results of their work and their experience of engaging with their chosen work
through writing.

When?

First session: 22 October, at 6.30 pm, with Sofía Castañón.

Approximate duration of the activity: 1 hour
