In the second session of Self-sufficient Technology we will discover how to use a low-cost mini-computer -Raspberry pi- to have our own self-sufficient applications, without depending on third party companies. We will explain how it works from an introductory level and we will give basic notions about its possibilities: how it connects to our main computer, what we can do with it, what applications there are, or how to access this cloud from the mobile when we are away from home. It will be an explanation of general concepts and a demonstration of use to get an idea of the possibilities and is open to those interested without previous experience. There will also be demonstrations of NextCloud, an alternative and self-managed cloud, or Home Assistant, a free and open home automation system.
The workshop will have a practical part in which we will learn how to install and use our own self-sufficient tool. Joplin is a text and image notepad, synchronised between our mobile phone and computer. This free software works as a simple cloud, it saves our information automatically on several devices when they are together, and we can have a backup copy on a USB or in the cloud. It is oriented to anyone interested in computer user level.
No previous experience is necessary.
