Do you want to know how to access public information? Do you need data to help you boost your campaigns? Are you interested in strategies to get public administrations to answer you? We all have the right to access information held by public administrations, but sometimes it is necessary to know how to exercise it. For the citizens it is a right; for activists and organizations, it can also be a tool.
What are we going to do?
- We will know the keys of the law of transparency and access to information in Spain (Law 19/2013), and the law 8/2018 of transparency of the Principality of Asturias.
- We will see what kind of information we are entitled to request, to which institutions we can address and what is the process.
- We will know the problems of access to information and how to avoid them.
- We will show how to make successful information requests, in a practical way and using real examples. And we will tell you how some requests have led to social change.
- We will learn about the functions and powers of the Council for Transparency and Good Governance (CTBG), and how to file an appeal if a request for information has been rejected or denied.
