The series of workshops entitled ‘The dance of hands, the operating body, here and now’ offers an opportunity for transmission and creation around the transdisciplinary project ‘Una Mesa Propia (dance of hands)’, which Olga Mesa constructs through different formats: film, installation and performance. The notions of presence and absence, bodies and screens of light, hands and gaze, shadows and reflections, corners, peripheries and off-screen spaces will be tools of spatialisation proposed by the body-operator*, in dialogue with —or without— the camera.

These spatial narrative elements will move, transform and amplify the presence of the body with choreographic and performative actions (some not yet visible), within a constellation of individual and collective memories. Recordings will be made through voice and body in dialogue with the poem ‘El sueño de la razón’ (The Dream of Reason) by the Asturian poet and journalist Marian Suárez.

A cartography to be explored, a large, habitable, ephemeral and transitory landscape, where ‘other presences’ can be evoked. Breathing together in the same space, sharing a journey of memories that transport the presence of the body towards a horizon of resistance(s), on a human and intimate scale. This ‘dance of hands’ will be an invitation to evoke future visions and shared dreams. Without a doubt, ‘here and now’ everything will be recorded.
