Antonio Irún

1 September 2025 – 31 January 2026

Antonio Irún (Oviedo, 1993) is a musician, teacher, and interdisciplinary creator. After graduating in English Studies from the University of Oviedo, he formed the folk/pop duo Virginia and the Wolf with Paula San Martín, releasing three EPs between 2019 and 2024. In 2022, he began his solo musical career, releasing his debut LP La cara Norte in 2024, produced by Germán Mingote.

His music addresses issues of identity, mental health, and personal transformation with poetic yet direct language. At the same time, he is completing a master’s degree in Teacher Training, specializing in Foreign Languages (English), and developing educational proposals that use English and pop music as mechanisms to encourage creative expression and critical reflection.

He is currently finishing the recording of his second album, Ciudad Plateada, at the House of Light studio in Oviedo. The album is a conceptual work that dreams of a queer and inclusive space where collective care and emotional freedom are fundamental. In 2025, he has been selected for the II Artistic Residency at Laboral Centro de Arte, where he will develop part of the Ciudad Plateada universe through performative, visual, and community actions.

Project in residence

Ciudad Plateada

Conceptual proposal consisting of ten songs produced by Germán Mingote. With an electronic pop sound and introspective overtones, the project constructs a contemporary queer narrative that starts from the local—a post-industrial Asturias—to design a utopian community where mutual care and diversity are essential pillars.

The lyrics address issues of gender, identity, queer affectivity, and emotional memory, between intimate storytelling and community manifesto. Ciudad Plateada is not only a physical space, but a metaphor for a dreamlike yet possible place, recognized for its vulnerable, inclusive, and resilient character.

The proposal is intertwined with a visual universe that draws references from cinema, pop culture, and post-apocalyptic aesthetics. Photography, video clips, and staging give shape to a cross-disciplinary artistic project whose objective is to generate dialogue and community.

During the artistic residency, performative, audiovisual, and cultural mediation actions will be carried out to bring this ‘Ciudad Planteada universe’ closer to the public.
