Project in residence

Lo simple y lo ordinario

Gesture:

Movement of the face, hands or other parts of the body, with which affection is expressed or messages are transmitted

How can we investigate movement through the body and its actions in everyday life? What emotional charge does a certain gesture contain? And what does the gestural tell us about the intimate and the collective? The objective of this project is to carry out a somatic investigation into the simplicity of movement and the intrinsic richness of what we consider ordinary. Through the collection of everyday gestures and simple movement patterns, gesture will be explored as a bodily, sensory and affective experience. This will seek to promote a reflection about how we navigate spaces in our daily lives and establish emotional relationships with other bodies and objects. Ultimately, this research-creation process aims to extend the notion of choreography to the everyday as a way of capturing and understanding somatic routines that define us both individually and collectively.
