Studio Corte 17

Studio

The project was born in the former industrial space Lanificio Bini (now called Corte di Via Genova). From 2005 to 2008 it developed as a personal studio for Chiara Bettazzi, transforming over time into a real project that changed from an abandoned site to an industrial space shared by young creatives. From this experience came the idea of founding Corte di Via Genova in 2008. Today SC17 is a cultural association, attentive to the contradictions of the landscape and to the constant research of hybrid formats of exchange, which take shape in projects related to contemporary art and Industrial archaeology.

In 2015 SC17 started an initial study of the territory, called Diari Urbani, eventually creating a mapping laboratory: Industrial Heritage map, an archive of old factories that still exist between Prato and the Bisenzio valley area.

In 2015 it created the first edition of TAI – Tuscan Art Industry, a day of contemporary Tuscan industrial archaeology, an annual event that promotes the use of old factories through contemporary art, working in contact with historical archives. Since 2016 it is part of the contemporary network of Prato called .CON – Contemporaneo Condiviso, synergy of eleven independent realities linked to contemporary culture.
