Andrea Fusaro y Alberto Barone

11 February 2015 – 15 May 2015

Andrea Fusaro and Alberto Barone are working on Soundlike, an application for recording and sharing geolocated sound experiences.

Project in residence

Soundlike

Soundlike is an application for recording and sharing geolocated sound experiences. The system allows high quality sounds to be recorded from a smartphone and uploaded to an Internet platform where they are linked and shared through different social networks to interact with other users. According to its creators, Soundlike is a soundscape 2.0, a sound with which the user can communicate and share experiences.

The project was born in September 2014, from an idea of sound designer Andrea Fusaro, who was looking for a platform to share his recordings, discover new soundscapes and interact with other professionals. The team was completed by graphic designer Alberto Barone, web developer Salvatore D’agostino and management engineer Riccardo Marchi.

Andrea Fusaro and Alberto Barone’s residency is the result of LABoral’s participation in CupCake, a programme promoted by the Politecnico di Milano that aims to promote employment and new opportunities in the cultural sector and the creative industries. In addition to the university’s Department of Design, the Politecnico di Milano Foundation and PoliHub, the institution’s start-up incubator, are collaborating in this initiative. Through an international professional exchange programme with partners of reference in Europe, such as LABoral, CupCake supports the development of initiatives that provide innovation, new approaches and business opportunities in sectors in which the creative element provides competitive advantages.

During their residency at LABoral and in collaboration with the Centro de Arte team, Andrea Fusaro and Alberto Barone will work on the development of their proposal in aspects such as the social web software, improving the quality of the recordings made with smartphones and the creation of a soundtrack for the project. All of this with the aim of achieving a link to the artistic and professional fabric of the sound field in Asturias and the search for investors interested in Soundlike.

Previously, the Soundlike team worked for three months at PoliHub in Milan, where they developed the launch website, conducted market research and created a business plan. The project won them the PoliHub S2P- Switch2Product Award.

Presentation of the project on Wednesday 25 February at 7 p.m. at Toma 3
(Calle Marqués de Casa Valdés, 27, Gijón)
