Curator of the Active Presence exhibition

Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1956, Edelsztein studied at Tel Aviv University between 1976 and 1985, after which he founded and directed Artifact Gallery in Tel Aviv (1987–95). In 1995 he founded The Center for Contemporary Art (CCA) in Tel Aviv, a center that he has directed since then and in which he also serves as Chief Curator. In it he has curated seven performance biennials and five international video-art biennials (Video Zone), as well as a multitude of experimental and video art screenings, retrospectives, and activities related to performance.

Among the exhibitions curated for the CCA, the exhibitions by Guy Ben Ner, Boaz Arad, Doron Solomons, Roee Rosen and Jan Tichy and international artists of the stature of Rosa Barba, Ceal Floyer and Marina Abramovic stand out. Since 1995, Edelsztein has curated exhibitions and video and performance programs in Spain and China, among other countries, as well as Israel’s participation in the XXIV São Paulo Biennial and the Israeli Pavilion at the 51st Venice Biennale (2005 ).

Likewise, he has given conferences, presented video programs and is the author of numerous publications in Israel, Spain, Brazil, Italy, Austria, Germany, China, the United States, Argentina, etc., as well as the author of texts for exhibition catalogues, media digital and other specialized publications.
