SBTRKT

Project

XL Recordings/Young Turks, United Kingdom

SBTRKT or Subtractone is the name of the penultimate project called to renew the British house music. Aaron Jerome, known for his dedication to soul and broken beat music in past times, decided to slip into a new role behind a mask of tribal influences to distill a careful mixture consisting of uk bass, garage, 2step, techno and massive techno. Here, where music boundaries intersect with the sole purpose of defining the dance music that should sound in every club.

With an enviable list of remixes including some works for Modeselektor, Radiohead, Basement Jaxx, Goldie or These New Puritans, SBTRKT has been featuring during 2010 a series of devices designed to exploit in the dance floors of the best clubs. Soundboy shift or Step in shadows EP (both featured by Young Turks) are two good examples. Their incendiary live shows are another good example of their potential, such as that offered in the fifth edition of the Visual Electronic Lab, accompanied by vocalist Sampha.
