Roman Kirschner

Born in Austria, 1975. Lives and works between Germany and Spain

Roman Kirschner creates microuniverses from image, sound and matter. Grown up with the remains of the Viennese Actionism, Kirschner started to study philosophy and art history before attending the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne. From 2001 to 2004 he worked as a part of the artist collective “fur” creating interactive installations using playful, multisensory interfaces in a social context. The group’s work was exhibited internationally and won several prizes. Since 2004 Roman Kirschner’s work can be found in the fields of installation, video, photography and sound. His exemplary worlds are filled with poetic transformations and constant transitions. They have been shown in Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Germany, Korea, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Sweden and the United States.
