Maribel S. Forero

Sociologist

Madrid, 1977

Degree in Sociology from the Complutense University of Madrid. She studied feminist studies at the Women’s Studies Department of the University of Utrecht and at the Noise Summer School in Ljubliana, Slovenia, both in 2004. She continued her training in feminism in Madrid, taking part in the UCM Spring Course “Laboratorio Feminista: ¿Importan los Cuerpos?” and the summer course “Mundos de Mujeres” in El Escorial, both in 2006. From that same year until 2009 she was part of the feminist audiovisual collective “ENVIDEAS”, which in turn belonged to Eskalera Karakola, a feminist collective located in Lavapiés, Madrid. She arrived in Asturias in 2009 to study for a Master’s degree in “Gender and Diversity” at the University of Oviedo, which she completed with the Master’s thesis “Ellas sí pueden hablar. Representations of the others in the documentary Exttranjeras by Helena Taberna”, specialising in cinema and feminism, specifically in the documentary genre.
