Kristin Lucas

Multidisciplinary artist

Born in the USA in 1968

Kristin Lucas is a multidisciplinary artist who began her career in the mid-1990s in the fields of video, installation, performance and interactive web projects. In her works, Lucas confronts personal identity and social interaction, bringing them into relation with the digital sphere and a media-saturated world. Her performance pieces, often set in front of a terrain populated by video games and virtual technologies, explore the alienation of the individual from the electronic media that the artist proposes as a substitute for personal interaction. Investigating the ways in which digital technologies transform everyday life, her works often incorporate public, online or interactive environments.

Kristin Lucas was born in 1968 in Davenport, Iowa, and lives in Beacon, New York. She has exhibited her work in solo exhibitions, most notably at Postmasters Gallery, New York; New Museum of Contemporary Art, New York; and FACT Foundation for Art & Creative Technology, Liverpool. His work was included in the 1997 Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial, New York, and in exhibitions at MoMA-The Museum of Modern Art, New York; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; and the Dunedin Public Gallery, New Zealand.
