Joe Pipal describes himself as “an East London furniture designer”. He studied cabinetmaking at London Guildhall University (2001-02), but before that he studied Fine Art at Nottingham Trent University (1996-99). After finishing his studies he worked for the designer David Hall (2002-03), and after this experience he decided to open his own studio in 2003.

Joe combines his interest in craft, design and experimentation in his work to produce unique works for his clients and collectors.

Joe was awarded a scholarship to further his studies by attending the Universities of Maine and Colorado in the USA for courses in advanced woodworking techniques. He has been invited as an artist in residence at Cove Park in Scotland and the NKD in Norway. He has exhibited at design and art fairs in the UK and works with the Fumi Gallery in London. Joe is currently completing a postgraduate degree in Industrial Design at the Royal College of Art in London.
