Javier Cruz

Multidisciplinary artist

Born in Oviedo in 1971. He lived and worked in Gijon

Javier Cruz, after finishing high school, studied Graphic Design and Illustration at the School of Art of Oviedo (94 promotion). After working in various advertising agencies in 2000, and and continuously, he begins to develop his profession independently, carrying out projects for design, illustration, etc. for clients such as the Town Hall of Gijón, the dock of Avilés, SMEs … and editorial design, his specialty, for Picu Urriellu Editorial (Gijón) and others. Throughout these years he did some paintings and illustrations (to himself), continuing an activity that, from childhood and through courses and tutorials, he never leaves completely. Since 2011, gives a new twist to his career and, returning more intensively his purely artistic vocation, decides to continue forming himself technically at the Creation and Teaching workshop by the artist Maite Centrol and begins to show his works in various group and individual exhibitions. Currently he combines his activity as a designer and illustrator with the growing artistic production mainly focused on drawing and painting, but also introducing himself in sculpture and writing. Since 2013, he is member of the Association of Visual Artists of Asturias.
