Javier Ávila has a degree in Fine Arts from the University of Granada. After studying in the Andalusian city, he moved to Madrid where he studied for a Master’s degree in Aesthetics and Art Theory offered by the Universidad Autónoma. His work has been leaning towards the practices of independent art criticism, a territory from which he has explored institutional criticism, alternative and spontaneous positions, as well as more specifically Public Art, being the coordinator of the experience Periferias, developed for three seasons in the Barrio de La Calzada in Gijón. He has collaborated with various media and currently collaborates regularly with Ajimez, a platform from which he publishes his view on current artistic events. He is the author of the blog rarunoart.blogspot.com, a place for analysis and opinion.
