Born in Brussels, Canada, 1957, and Vegreville, Canada, 1960, respectively. Live and work in Berlin and Grindrod.

Over the past 15 years, Janet Cardiff and George Bures Miller have produced complex multimedia installations and audio walks that extend the boundary of visual art, becoming hybrids of theatre, film and performance. They have had major solo exhibitions at Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh; MACBA-Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona; Institut Mathildenhöhe, Darmstadt; MAC@MAM, Miami; PS 1 Contemporary Art Centre, New York; Castello di Rivoli, Turin; The Whitechapel Gallery, London; Kunsthaus Bregenz; Thyssen-Bornemisza Art Contemporary, Vienna; The Power Plant Gallery, Toronto. They have produced major site works for The Hirshhorn Museum, Washington; Public Art Fund, New York; The Eastern State Penitentiary Museum, Philadelphia; The Hebbel Theatre, Berlin. They have also conceived a public art web project, www.eyesoflaura.org, for the Vancouver Art Gallery.

They have been included in numerous major group exhibitions in international institutions such as The Center for Contemporary Art, Tel Aviv; Mori Art Museum, Tokyo; Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum, Ridgefield; MOCA-Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; MoMA-Museum of Modern Art, New York; Deutsches Hygiene-Museum, Dresden; Site Santa Fe; SFMoMA-San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; and representing the Canadian Pavilion at the Venice Biennale. In 2008 they presented a new audio-installation at the 16th Sydney Biennial, The Murder of Crows, which in 2009 was shown for the first time in Europe, in Hamburger Bahnhof – Museum für Gegenwart, Berlin.
