Born in Oviedo, 1965

Isabel Cuadrado begins her studies in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Bilbao and graduates from the Complutense University of Madrid. She attends specialization courses at the Escola D´Estiu Internacional de Gravat de Calella and at Arteleku.

Professor at the Oviedo Art School, she has exhibited regularly since 1994. She uses all types of media and materials, sometimes artistic materials and sometimes taken from daily life. Her work includes painting, installations, video, graphic work, watches and artist books.

She received the scholarship from the Royal Academy of Spain in Rome in 2004, she has been a guest artist at the V Encuentros de Belgrade in 2009 and an artist in residence at the Frans Masereel Centrum in Belgium on several occasions, at Fiskars Village Artist in Residence, Finland, in 2011 and at RAT Puerto Mitla, Mexico City, in 2017.

His work is found in prominent collections and museums, among others, the Galician Center for Contemporary Art (CGAC), Museum of Modern Art of Antwerp, Museum of Contemporary Spanish Engraving (MGEC), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Cajastur Collection, National Library, Unicaja Foundation and Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias. Space and time are usually the main components of his work.


The process, due to its temporal development and the analysis of the space that relates the work to its environment, are essential components when proposing a project. Many of Isabel Cuadrado’s works are usually created “in situ” establishing connections with the space and time in which they are developed.
