Sara Muñiz is a composer and musicologist.

Although her initial training comes from classical music, she has a long career as a violist and pianist in the field of urban popular music and its integration with the arts. Since she was a teenager she has collaborated in a multitude of musical projects, some of them with great scope, such as Manta Ray, Nacho Vegas, Fleshtones, Fee Reega or Pablo und Destruktion. A few years ago, together with José A. Rilla, he created the record label Framily and the experimental electronic music project Cicada. In parallel, he has worked on several artistic projects and given courses and workshops related to music and art; collaborating with institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts of Asturias or Laboral Centre of Art and Industrial Creation.

She is currently composing music for theatre and visual works.

This year she has been nominated in the Oh theatre awards for best soundtrack for theatre.

CICADA

CICADA is the duo formed by Jose A. Rilla, ex-member of Pablo Und Destruktion’s band, in charge of synthesizers and programming, and Sara Muñiz, violist, also ex-Pablo Und Destruktion, and with a long career as a collaborator in projects such as Viva Las Vegas, Manta Ray, Nacho Vegas or Captains among others. His eponymous debut album, mixed by Óscar Mulero, offers a dreamlike and thrilling journey in which electronic and acoustic instruments serve as a vehicle to travel a path full of crossroads, veils and changes of course. Hypnotic drones, sinuous viola loops and dense polyrhythms invite us to transit between different states of consciousness, in an itinerary that takes us from introspection and abstraction to the atavistic ecstasy of dance.
