Cerith Wyn Evans’ conceptual practice incorporates a wide range of media: installation, sculpture, photography, film and text. He began his career as a video maker and filmmaker, first as an assistant to Derek Jarman, and then in the 1980s creating short, experimental films. Since the 1990s, his work has been defined by its focus on language and perception, as well as a precise, conceptual clarity that is often developed outside the context of the exhibition space or its history.

Cerith Wyn Evans has been included in numerous group exhibitions outside his country, including participation in the 1995, 2003 and 2009 editions of the Venice Biennale; the 12th Venice Architecture Biennale, 2010; the 9th International Istanbul Biennial, 2005; and documenta 11, Kassel, 2002. Recent solo exhibitions include: MIT List Visual Arts Centre and Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, 2004; Frankfurt Kunstverein, Frankfurt, 2004; Kunsthaus Graz, 2005; BAWAG Foundation, Vienna, 2005; Musée d’art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, 2006; Inverleith House, Edinburgh, 2009; Tramway, Glasgow, 2009; Casa Barragán, Mexico City, 2010; and White Cube, London, 2010.
