Carlos works at various levels of sensation and bodily perception. His current artistic research focuses on the evolutionary processes of the body that draw a connective line from microbiological organisms to the historical development of cybernetics and the current field of Artificial Intelligence. This line It goes through the processes of increasing digitalization of the world and experience, a question that urges it to investigate the place of the body and viscerality in relation to contemporary aesthetics.

Carlos has developed projects internationally in institutions and galleries such as Autoitalia, Seventeen Gallery and Diaspore Project Space, London; HIAP Helsiniki, Hangar and Monitor Gallery, Lisbon; Studio X, Istanbul; Inverted Crater, Mexico, and at the national level in institutions such as Matadero Madrid, Ca2M or La Casa Encendida.

Corpus

Corpus is a project about the datafication of the body through images.

Corpus part of the proliferation of databases that are collected to train computer systems to operate automatically in the real world through images. A corpus, in the field of Artificial Intelligence, is a set of data with which train a neural network. These networks need a large amount of information to learn. As these systems advance and are integrated, the original images used become abstracted, integrated into increasingly complex processes in which the biases of that collection are incorporated, dragged and infected. other systems.
Corpus is a collection of these databases – generally freely available to researchers – and an archive composed of a series of USB sculptural devices. This collection is made up of the main corpora used to train all types of image-based artificial learning systems , from object classification, facial recognition, reading handwritten characters, medical diagnosis…. and it would function as an archive of these founding corpora and their biases.

During his stay at LABoral Centro de Arte, the artist will continue my research on these databases, developing his sculptural manifestations, paying special attention to the interconnectivity of both his materials and the data contained therein.
