Andrea Rubio develops her artistic work around educational issues, relating creation and learning through metaphor and collaborative art. Her artistic work is directly connected to her teaching work, linking creation, teaching and research as transversal issues to her daily work as an art educator.

Graduated in Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid, she is pursuing a master’s degree in Visual Arts and Education at the University of Granada where she is currently completing her doctoral thesis on Arts and Education. The result of this research is the Lainopia project that has taken place in Asturias since 2015, connecting contemporary creation strategies and artistic learning. She has participated in Art and Education projects in Honduras, India and Spain. She currently also develops her work at the university level as an associate professor in the area of ​​Didactics of Plastic Expression at the University of Oviedo.

Theories of the development of children’s drawing relate the first strokes, the scribbling itself, with a drive that obtains or generates pleasure from the movement itself. Placing ourselves on this idea of ​​returning to drawing for pleasure, moving from the need for movement itself, we immerse ourselves in this inquiry: a visual exploration through photography and drawing, around the registration of movement. Drawing as a trace of a spatial journey through the body. We find ourselves in that dreaded moment of the beginning, of the blank paper, the moment in which we decide to draw the first line, take the first step, where tensions, fear, and doubts appear. What if we immerse ourselves in drawing as another body movement?
