Alfredo F. Ojanguren

Professor

Professor of Zoology at the Department of Biology of Organisms and Systems of the University of Oviedo. He has taught undergraduate and master’s degree courses at universities in the USA, Portugal, Mexico, Cape Verde and Great Britain, including 6 years as Professor of Biodiversity Conservation and Management at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. His research has focused on questions related to evolutionary and behavioural ecology in fish. He is currently involved in an international project on the impact of climate change on insect populations. He also devotes part of his time to disseminating and transferring knowledge through publications, talks and participation in scientific culture events.

In addition to his academic activity, he is a member of Geotrupes, a group of biologists who advocate the use of scientific knowledge in biodiversity management and conservation measures.
