Alejo Duque

Artist

Alejandro Duque is a Colombian artist based in Switzerland. He did his undergraduate studies in Medellin, Colombia, and his master’s studies in Spain at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Cuenca. He is currently a doctoral student at the European Graduate School in Switzerland, and is completing his three-year research project at Locus Sonus, a laboratory founded by the Aix-en-Provence School of Art and Villa Arson in Nice, in the south of France. For the last decade he has been particularly interested in open source culture and the development of video, both online and offline. The artist devotes most of his artistic activity to networked collaborations, IRC (chat) and streaming technology are some of the hallmarks of his ethos. Duque has participated in several exhibitions, festivals and collective events including Video Vortex (Split, Croatia), Wintercamp09 (Amsterdam), transmediale (Berlin), the Venice Architecture Biennale, Piksel05 (Bergen, Norway), Art+Communication (Riga, Latvia), labSurlab (Medellin, Colombia) and the SHIFT Festival in Basel.
