Alba Espina has a degree in Cultural Heritage Restoration from the School of Art of the Principality of Asturias (ESAPA) and a Master’s Degree in Materials Science and Technology from the School of Mining, Energy and Materials Engineering of Oviedo.

Currently studying an international PhD programme co-directed by the Universities Pavol Jozef Šafárika in Košice and Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, developed at the Instituto de Estructura de la Materia (IEM) belonging to the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). Thesis title: “Spectroscopic characterizations of Ferrogallic Inks and related pigments with interest in Cultural Heritage”.

His interest and concern has led him to research on new materials and digital fabrication methods and their application in uses as varied as surfboard keels.
