Re-inventing public participation: inclusive scenarios

Art Explora

European Award 2022

Art has the power to inspire change and transform the way we live together; it is a common good that should be shared with as many people as possible. This shared belief, combined with the complementary nature of our two organisations, is at the heart of the European Award: the determination of Art Explora to champion public access and engagement, combined with the high standards of the Académie des beaux-arts.

The Art Explora – Académie des beaux-arts European Award allows us to show our appreciation of the many innovations that come from across Europe, from arts organisations large and small, and across all art forms. In 2022 we were delighted to welcome projects from
cultural organisations across all artistic sectors. And what a turnout! In this publication you’ll discover twenty projects, organised by museums, art centres, theatres, operas, non-profits—focused on co-creation, participation, youth engagement—a wealth of inspiring practices that can help bring alive the dialogue between arts and audiences.

Our objective in creating this award was to showcase the best initiatives and open up a space where cultural professionals can exchange ideas. There are good ideas everywhere—let’s share them!
