Carlos Motta es un artista nacido en Colombia y con base en Nueva York, que ha participado en exposiciones individuales en el Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), Filadelfi a; Art in General, Nueva York; Smack Mellon, Brooklyn; Konsthall C, Estocolmo; Fundación Alzate Avendaño, Bogotá; Winkleman Gallery, Nueva York y Kevin Bruk Gallery, Miami.
Entre sus colectivas más recientes se encuentran The Greenroom: Reconsidering the Documentary and Contemporary Art, CCS Bard Hessel Museum of Art, Annandale-on-Hudson, Nueva York; Convergence Center, Democracy in America, Creative Time, Park Avenue Armory, Nueva York; Ours: Democracy in the Age of Branding, Vera List Center for Art and Politics en Parsons, Nueva York; Soft Manipulation, Casino Luxembourg; System Error: War Is a Force That Gives Us Meaning, Palazzo delle Papesse, Siena. En 2008 Motta recibió un Fellowship del Guggenheim, en 2007 una beca de la Art Matters Foundation y en 2006, otra de la Cisneros Fontanals Foundation.
