An art, sicence and technology weekend with the opening of 'Materia prima' and 'winterLAB'
Activities included in the European Network of Digital Art and Science
LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial opens next Saturday, November 14, at 8 p.m. the exhibition Materia prima. Experimentos en arte digital y ciencia, curated by Gerfried Stocker, Art Director of Ars Electronica Center, in Linz (Austria), who will take part in the opening tour.
In times of crisis, when there are many questions and few answers, the focus of attention shifts towards the new sources of inspiration, the new associations and the new paradigms. Art and science have always been very close, but what matters now is how society can benefit from the very special field generated by this relationship. In this sense, Materia prima is more than an exhibition. Or, at least, it goes beyond the usual exhibition: It is an experiment in itself, an attempt to provide access and open paths along the wide territory where art and science overlap. It is mainly focused at achieving a new level of visitors' involvement and participation by means of six labs for visitors located in the exhibition area.
On the occasion of the opening of Materia prima, LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial hosts winterLAB, a meeting on community and the creative use of technology that will gather from November 13 to November 15 international experts and institutions in workshops and round tables aimed at fostering the creative use of technology, critically analysing the work developed so far and reflecting upon the new steps to be taken to disseminate these new ways of doing and sharing.
