LABoral proposes a visit to Topo 2011, an artistic intervention by SIMA COLECTIVO
The guided tour around the tunnels of the Ciudad de la Cultura [City of Culture]will take place on 31st August, by registering in advance
LABoral has organised for this coming Wednesday 31st August a guided visit to Topo 2011, an artistic installation by SIMA COLECTIVO developed during the sessions at SummerLAB 2011, held at the Centre this August, from 2nd to 6th. Among the more than one hundred artists, creators, producers and digital producers brought together in this meeting were Álvaro Sau, alfonso borragán and Ana Martínez, who, as a part of the module on mapping, created a light and sound installation in the subterranean spaces of the old LABoral University premises and the warehouses which the Centre of Art currently occupies, generating an installation that is also shown at the surface.
Topo 2011 is centred on the spaces which over time and through the different occupations and changes have escaped the modern layout of the city, remaining hidden under it, and by means of reconnaissance actions on these new sites, it uncovers, changes and (re)formulates a chapter in urban and industrial history and unveils it as a strange cavern -an unforeseen place for work, play and fiction. According to SIMA, it is an experiment between the precision of urban planning and the looseness of the unknown where –through the installation- an intersection of primitivism and contemporary architecture is explored.
The SIMA installation unfolds underground for the most part and offers a tour around the developed space where locations, its lighting and sound are magnified. Some spots in this (under) world are shown at the surface using a spy video, in streaming format, which detects movements and slight changes in the tunnels and two noise pollution points in the ecoLAB garden and other spaces at the Centre of Art.
The guided tour will take place from 1 pm to 2 pm on 31st August and takes approximately 30 minutes. To participate, it is necessary to register in advance on tel: 985 185 577.
