fabLAB Asturias will host in February several workshops on the construction of multicopters and the use of laser cutters
Registration open for both activities organised
fabLAB Asturias will host next February introductory workshops on the construction of multicopters and the use of laser cutters. Both activities are part of the training programme on tools for creators and other professionals offered by the Production Centre of LABoral through its Digital Fabrication Lab.
fabLAB Asturias is one of the labs integrated in the global network of fab labs, made up by centres that research on digital manufacturing. Equipped with computer-controlled machines, they are capable of producing physical objects from digital designs, as well as designing electronic tools and devices. LABoral’s Fab LAB offers a unique creative environment in the Fab Labs network due to the relationship between art and new technologies, hallmark of the Centro de Arte de Gijón from its inception, fostered by the interaction between the artistic world and the cultural industries, the ICTs and the educational institutions that are integrated in the framework of activity of the Centro de Arte.
The third edition of the multicopter construction workshop will take place on February 7 and 21 in the morning, during 8 hours, using digital manufacturing techniques and experimental electronics and will be a point of departure for the public interested in developing projects with UAVs. In addition to building the flight platforms, other more theoretical aspects regarding the electronic systems for autonomous flight will be covered.
Thus, fabLAB Asturias continues its line of research on integrated open-code, open-design systems for autonomous flight. Even if all types of vehicles can be converted into autonomous vehicles, multicopters are a specially interesting platform due to their ability to perform steady flight without being as complex as a helicopter. Participants are entitled to the parts of the multicopter model, as well as the electronic equipment –engine, speed shifter and servomotors-, the broadcasting device and the receptor, however, are not included. Registration is open until Thursday, January 29.
