LABoral hosts ‘INTACT’, a workshop on real-time Web creation with telepresence and teleshared actions

LABoral's Plat0 has all the technological requirements for telepresence connection

With the aim of raising awareness and spreading knowledge of new creative practices through the Web and the possibilities offered by using telepresence, next weekend LABoral will hold the Intact. Teleshared Actions. Connection and Cognition workshop. The activity will take place from Friday 23 until Sunday 25, scheduled for 10 am to 7 pm.

The workshop, which is mainly aimed at artists, will deal with the basics on teleshared actions, a procedure in collaborative creation in real time where the works are produced remotely between two or more people, sharing –via the Internet- all kinds of archives and audiovisual information by means of software and hardware which collect and bring together various artistic manifestations in real time, using systems such as telepresence. These expanded performative practices generate new spaces, languages and narrative forms, forging the possibility of the “body-less” message. And all of this founded on a basic concept: transform space into time, boosting, in this way, experimentation and critical reflection in relation to remote communicative processes.

Led by www.intacto1.net, attendance is free although prior registration required at: talleres@laboralcentrodearte.org. Participating in the workshop will be María Domínguez Alba, Manuel Terán, Ernesto García and Sara Malinarich, who collaborate on lighting concepts, the use of cameras, videos, sound, visual arts, action, contents, interfaces and documentation. In remote, experimentations will be carried out, co-authored by Alexandre Berthier from Canada and Vicente Pastor from Portugal, who interact in real time with the participants using video-conference systems and other software.

In addition, during the weekend of 30 September (from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm ), 1 and 2 October (between 5 pm and 8 pm), connections through telepresence will be made with SAT-Society for Arts and Technology, an interdisciplinary centre for research, creation, production, training and dissemination, focused on the conservation of digital culture, created in  1996 in Montreal, Canada.

About INTACT
INTACT is an experimental research project in the field of cyberculture, dedicated to the development of teleshared actions and the building-up of cooperation networks for telematic creation.

The setting-up of networks aims primarily at promoting discussion and critical reflection on remote creation, as well as maximizing the possibilities of new procedures associated with it and tackle problems in current communication that arise from telematics.

Its main working environment is the Internet network, through which the proposals related to long-distance remote creation are brought together. However, its activities are not only fuelled by the Web but also by the different spaces linked to INTACT promoted actions, which include museums, art centres like LABoral, universities, foundations and art galleries.
