The Director of LABoral takes part in a course on “the current situation of museums”, organised by the University of Zaragoza
The Director of LABoral, Rosina Gómez-Baeza, will participate tomorrow, Wednesday, in a course on “the current situation of museums”, organised by the University of Zaragoza, which will take place at Museo Municipal de Calatayud [Calatayud Muncipal Museum] until next 29th.
Led by María Luisa Cancela Ramírez de Arellano, Director of IAACC –Instituto Aragonés de Arte y Cultura Contemporáneos [the Aragon Institute of Contemporary Art and Culture], during the sessions of this event, the role of museums as a first-rate point of reference not only in their cultural and educational importance, but also in their economic significance and the role they play in territorial development policies at a local, county and regional level will be analysed.
Gómez-Baeza will present the activity of LABoral and its functioning as a space for artistic exchange which is playing an active part in boosting creative and cultural industries in Spain. She will also explain how elements and programmes are incorporated in its strategy, placing the Centre of Art and Industrial Creation in an internationally prominent position, through collaboration and agreements with public and private bodies in a wide range of countries. In her presentation, she will also refer to the foundations on which the programming at LABoral lies and her view on culture as a channel for development. In her opinion, “museums and art centres should promote knowledge, foster creativity and facilitate access to the Knowledge Society for all the population, as a way of bringing about an improved standard of living for people, of creating sustainable economic wealth and of transforming society into one which is freer, more cultured and educated”.
Also participating in the course along with Rosina Gómez-Baeza will be: Manuel Martín-Bueno. Director of Museo de Calatayud, Zaragoza; Agustín Pérez Rubio. Director of MUSAC, León; Daniel Castillejo Alonso. Director of ARTIUM, Vitoria; Carlos Baztan Lacasa, General Coordinator of Support for Creation in the Arts area, Madrid City Council; Silvia Lindner, Director of Museo Würth, La Rioja; and Joao Fernandes, Director, Museo Serralves, Oporto; among other experts.
