LABoral Centro de Arte organises robotics summer camps and a workshop to build table games using 3D printing for children
Robotix Educación and LABoral continue their children robotics programme with the third edition of the summer camps. Moreover, the school of digital fabrication Los Hacedores will offer a workshop where children will design and make their own table games using the machines of the fabLAB

LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial has programmed two robotics summer camps for children between 7 and 14. The participants will have the chance to design, build and programme their own robots from a series of challenges they must accomplish on a daily basis.
Here, robotics becomes a excuse to introduce the children into scientific and technological contents and to get some specific knowledge on robotics and programming, while at the same time developing creativity and critical thinking. To this end the building kit LEGO WeDo and the platform Lego Mindstorm NXT to build the robots.
With LEGO WeDo the children learn basic concepts of robotics while at the same time having fun. During one week they will build models of machines and animals (some already stablished, others newly created), programme actions and behabiours, measure distances in centimetres and speeds in rotations, research how the machines work and create their own stories.
Participants with previous knowledge may take part with LEGO Mindstorm, with which they will build their first robots using LEGO parts, engines, a board that serves asbrain and light, sound, ultrasound and touch sensors. Then they will programme their robots with a simple software that allows them to submit to the robots the actions they must perform as if it were a puzzle.
The dates of the summer camps are as follow: June 27 to July 1 (except for July 29), July 4 to 8, July 11 to 15, July 18 to 22, July 25 to 29, August 1 to 5, August 8 to 12, August 16 to 19 and August 22 to 26. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The price is €95 / €76 euros (20% discount with for annual member s of Plataforma 0, that grants a 20% discount on courses and workshops and free access to the Art Centre, access to Plataforma 0 and its resources with special fees for the use of the equipment) The weeks of June 29 to July 1 and August 16 to 19, June 30 to July 3 have a price of €76 as they include only 4 sessions.
Factory of table games
In addition to the summer camps, LABoral will offer children between 8 and 12 a workshop on the fabrication of table games that will take place between July 4 and 8. The plan is to design and build a table game using digital fabrication technologies, such as modelling and 3D printing or vectorial drawing and laser cutting. Participants not onlyconceive the rules of the game, but also design the graphic image of the game and its accessories.
The main goal is to foster critical thinking and creativity, as well as the knowledge on digital fabrication tools and, obviously, team work. During 5 sessions participants work with drawing, 2D and 3D design, modelling and 3D printing and laser cutting. All this in the fabLAB Asturias of LABoral.
Participants will take home with them their game kit and the files to print on paper and assemble it.
This training will be conducted by the digital fabrication workshop and school, Los Hacedores, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.en horario 10 a 14 horas. The fee is €90 (20% discount for annual members of Plataforma 0) the deadline for registering is June 29, 2016.
