Fasenuova begins an artist residency at LABoral to develop its project Laboratorio sonoro y escénico
The group will prepare its next show at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón and will have regular rehearsals open to the public with free access

The Asturian group Fasenuova will feature in a five-month artist residency at LABoral to develop its project Laboratorio sonoro y escénico [Sound and Stage Laboratory]. From Monday 15 April until 15 September, Roberto Lobo and Ernesto Avelino, members of Fasenuova, will prepare their next show in the Sound Laboratory at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón and collaborate with other resident artists at LABoral, as well as have rehearsals open to public, who will have free access.
Fasenuova, who are currently at the stage of creating a new musical work which will be released by the Asturian label Discos Humeantes, also plan to closely follow the mounting of one of the exhibitions at the art centre in contact with the creators involved in the process, and then, to collaborate at its opening or in some of the related activities.
Roberto Lobo and Ernesto Avelino have worked together under the name Fasenuova for nearly a decade. Their project ranges from musical experimentation to the dance scene and rhythms closely resembling punk and industrial. Over this period they have been able to take part in major festivals in the country while achieving increasing success among the public and critics, which has made them into one of the most outstanding bands on the national scene.
During their residency at LABoral the group aims to shape its upcoming show using the art centre’s resources for this purpose, and so set out all the necessary aspects, which might include sound, lighting, theatrics, images and everything else that will eventually form part of its new project.
LABoral’s programme for 2013 has been underpinned by strengthening the research and production of new work through artist residencies and work groups. LABoral invites artists and developers to utilise the space and technical resources available to them and it is this framework into which the residency by Fasenuova fits.
