LABoral and Lo Pati announce a residency for experimental music and sound art projects related with the sound landscape of Asturias and the Ebro River Delta

Lo Pati – Centre d’Art de les Terres de l’Ebre

LABoral and Lo Pati – Centre d’Art de les Terres de l’Ebre have launched a call for a shared art residency for developing projects of experimental music and sound art related with the sound landscapes of Asturias and the Ebro Delta. It is addressed to creators residing in Spain. It aims to provide the artist with the conditions of space and concentration appropriate for his/her research and to take advantage of the nature possibilities of Asturias and the Ebro Delta.

The residency will last two weeks and will take place between June 9 and July 3, first at LABoral and then at Lo Pati. The results of this research will be presented in the course of 2014 at LABoral Sound LAB and in the programme of Lo Pati

The selected resident undertakes to show his/her work by means of a performance, sound action, installation or any other form of presentation, and, in addition, he/she must document his/her research and creation process and make this material available to Lo Pati and LABoral to complement the presentation of his/her work, for educational, research, communication or promotional purposes.

A jury integrated by representatives of the teams of LABoral and Lo Pati - Centre d’Art de les Terres de l’Ebre, will select the winner entry depending on its experimental and innovating nature and in the research of new lines of work related with sound art, its intrinsic relationship with the sound landscapes of Asturias and the River Ebro Delta, and its feasibility and development possibilities.

Applications for this art residency may be submitted until April 14, 2014 to the following e-Mail addresses: comunicacio@lopati.cat and/or produccion@laboralcentrodearte.org.

Lo Pati, Centre d’Art de les Terres de l’Ebre. Based in Amposta, Lo Pati aims to be the catalyzing node of initiatives and projects linked to visual arts produced in the areas of Montsià, Baix Ebre, Ribera d’Ebre and Terra Alta. The functions of the centre include programmes of dissemination, training, production, compilation and archiving, as part of the Visual Arts Centres Network of Catalonia. The singularity of the project revolves around the relationship between art and nature. The emphasis on the value of the natural context as characteristic component of the territory where it is located and the complicity and the physical proximity to the Museu de les Terres de l’Ebre are the point of departure for lines of work and partnerships that further support this approach.

LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial is an open platform for the research, production, dissemination and interpretation of new cultural forms, which result from the creative use of new technologies.

Inaugurated on March 30, 2007, the Centre is located in Gijón (Principado de Asturias), within the facilities of the former Universidad Laboral, currently Ciudad de la Cultura.

LABoral provides the cultural sector with its Production Centre, Plataforma 0, for producing projects which are halfway between art, science and new technologies with the aim of fostering the execution or art proposals and their introduction in the professional circuits.

The Sound LAB of LABoral aims to foster and provide technical and creative support to contemporary art practices related with sound, through three lines of action: production, research and education.
