LABoral holds Open Door Days from Friday to Sunday
Entrance to Gijon’s Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial will be free and visitors will be able to take part in the Design Market
Saturday and Sunday there will be another edition of the LABoral's Design Market
This weekend LABoral will hold three Open Door days between Friday 8th and Sunday 10th, with free entrance to the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón and free guided tours. In addition, 43 designers working in Asturias will take part on Saturday and Sunday in a new edition of its LABshop/e_LABshop Design Market. Organised every three months by the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, the event offers the opportunity to a wide group of creators of exhibiting and selling their work to the public. The market will be open in the Art Centre’s lobby from 12 noon to 10 pm on Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th April.
The Open Door days include free guided tours to the exhibitions currently on show at the Centre. These are: Noches eléctricas [Electric Nights], a selection of works from the collection of Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and other French collections, which shows the continuity existing between firework displays and the art of moving images; Segundo de Chomón. El alquimista impasible y su cine de fantasía [The Impassive Alchemist and his Fantasy Cinema] which pays tribute to experimental and independent cinema. Precisely on Friday, at 8 pm, Dédalo España, a project by Asturian artist Adrián Cuervo selected as the winner of the LABjoven_Experimenta award, will be inaugurated. In his work, the labyrinths created by corporations and multinationals in order to deal with clients are explored physically and conceptually.
The guided tours will set off from the information desk according to following timetable: on Friday 8th April, at 5 pm and 6 pm; on Saturday 9th April, at 5 pm, 6 pm and 7 pm; and on Sunday 10th April at 12 pm and 5 pm.
Access to the Market will also be free at this quarterly meeting that has been held since 2008. The visitors will have the opportunity to see and buy graphic work, T-shirts, badges, photographs, buttons, postcards, belts, undergarments, home decorative items, jewellery, shoes or clothing, among other things. They are all original and hand-crafted by young designers working in the Principality of Asturias. At the market, LABoral will also make available at a reduced price publications and objects usually for sale at the Art Centre’s shop. Together with merchandising, art objects designed specifically for LABoral, as well as LABoral exhibition catalogues, all of this will be on offer at the Centre.
