LABoral has launched a call for an artist residency aimed at musicians or music groups, which offers a rehearsal space set up with the equipment at the art centre for a period of six months.

Framed within an artist residency project offered to bands, the objective of this call for proposals is to make the art centre available to the music scene in Asturias as a resource for production and content distribution.  As well as using the space, the musicians will take part in LABoral’s programme so that they can get involved in exhibitions, workshops or open sessions, as well as facilitating their collaboration with other artists in residence or participants in the art centre’s programme.

Music groups or solo artists either born or resident in Asturias may apply, and the selection process will evaluate the artistic and cultural value of the presented proposal along with its relationship with the lines of work at LABoral: new technologies, electronics, DIY (do it yourself).

The proposals should be submitted before Monday 20 January 2014 by filling in the form available on the LABoral website and will be evaluated by the team at LABoral, who will make the final decision on which music group or solo artist will be chosen for the residency. The results from this open call will be announced on LABoral’s web and in a press release to the media.

LABoral will allocate a space set up for musical works, equipped with different technical resources: speakers, mixing desk and microphones. The times for use of the space will be on Wednesday and Thursday from 10 am to 7 pm between February and July 2014.  The participants may also use the Chill-Out Room or Plat0 by booking in advance and depending on availability for the open sessions mentioned above. The groups will be able to have open-door rehearsals from time to time.

After finishing the residency, the group will present the results from the work carried out during the residency and LABoral may produce an edition with part of the produced sound material, always for promotional use and programme dissemination.
