Fifty designers will present their creations at LABoral’s Summer Design Market
There will be a sound action by the resident artists María Castellanos, Alberto Valverde, Coco Moya and Iván Cebrián; the presentation of ‘Algo fluorescente’ by Roc Jiménez de Cisneros, and Dj sets
The Design Market will be in the format of a street party or romería
LABoral will host this weekend a new edition of its design market with the participation of fifty designers. This year, the stands of the creators will be placed under the arcades outside the Art Centre from noon to 10 p.m. Saturday 25 and Sunday 26.
As has been the tradition in recent summers, the Design Market will be in the format of a street party or romería. Visitors will enjoy live music, food and beverages. This year, the resident artists María Castellanos, Alberto Valverde, winners of the grant Next Things 2015, and Coco Moya and Iván Cebrián, winners of the prize LABjoven_Los Bragales, that are completing a production residency at the Art Centre, will perform a sound action. In addition, Roc Jiménez de Cisneros will present an installation, Algo fluorescente, produced as well during an artistic residency at the Sound LAB. This artist, together with Adolfo Sputnik, will perform a Dj session in the afternoon of Saturday.
Since December 2008, the LABshop gathers three times a year a large group of independent creators, designers and publishers. The aim is to showcase the activities related with design and creation in Asturias. LABshop is not only a great showcase or a design flea market; it is an open stage for creativity that connects all participants with each other and with the mass media, trend setters and the industry.
This idea is represented in the brand Hand Made With Love that can be used by all participants in their products and summarises the philosophy of LABshop in three concepts: Original design, self-production and lots of love.
LABoral will be selling in this flea market publications and objects usually commercialised in the Art Centre. Together with merchandising items, there will be author objects designed specifically for LABoral, as well as catalogues of the exhibitions held at the Centre.
Visitors will also have the chance to become “Friends of LABoral or to give the ID as a gift in the four existing categories: Amigo de número, with an annual fee of 25 €; Amigo Estudiante (children under 12 free-of-charge), 10 €; Amigo Familia, (2 adults and children), 40€; and Amigo Usuario with access to Plataforma 0 and its resources and special fares for using its equipment and machines) in its two categories, individual, with a fee of 50€, and collective, with a fee of 90€; and Amigo Empresa, with a fee from 500€.

- Acción sonora (María Castellanos, Alberto Valverde, Coco Moya and Iván Cebrián)
María Castellanos and Alberto Valverde, winners of the grant Next Things 2015, have been developing since 2010 the project Clorofila 3.0, a research on the electric pulses produced by vegetal organisms. They have created specifically for this project a programme that is able of capturing the changes of voltage that reflect the different states of the plants, translating them into real-time sounds through modules that are placed on each plant. These devices measure the electric loads that vary depending on the plant’s temperature, chemical system or other external factors such as pressure, movement of the air or their proximity to physical objects. On this occasion, Acción sonora fosters the collaboration in the project Clorofila 3.0 of the artists Coco Moya and Iván Cebrián, winners of Premio LABjoven_Los Bragales with their project Menhir. Their participation will create sound and music using the signs from each plant as sound controllers, at the same time triggering analogical and digital synthesizers, samplers and voices.
