7,665 people visited LABoral over the weekend and took part in its design market/festival
The Centro de Arte recorded an increase in visitors of 78.39% in the month of July, coinciding with Open Doors on the occasion of its fifth anniversary
A total of 7,665 people visited LABoral over this past weekend to take part in the Design Market/Festival. From last Friday evening until 10 pm at night on Sunday, the art centre organised with remarkable success a new edition of its traditional design market in which 52 designers participated.
The new format offered, which closely resembles a “romería/fiesta de prau”, or open-air festivities in fields, allowed for the public to buy design objects and take part in the activities which included live music, food and drink, entertainment for younger children, picnics and a cyclists rally. The participants could also visit free of charge the exhibitions currently being shown at LABoral: datamatics. data.tecture [5 SXGA+ version] by the Japanese artist and musician Ryoji Ikeda; eCLIPSe; Generadores de sombras [Shadow Generatotors], an artwork by Cristina Busto; n-Polytope by the North American artist Chris Salter; Narrativas espaciales [Spatial Narratives]; and Usos y formas [Uses and Forms] with the works by Noé Baranda and Juan José Pulgar
In addition, from 1 to 29 July this year, coinciding with Open Door Days held at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón to mark its fifth anniversary, LABoral registered a record number of 11,715 visitors, compared to 6,567 counted during this period in 2011. This represents an increase of 78.39%.
In accordance with provisional calculations, in the total accumulated between 1 January and 29 July 2012, 64,781 people have taken part in LABoral’s activities or visited its exhibitions. This figure shows an increase of 70.35% with respect to the same period in 2011 with a public attendance of 38,029 personas.
