Selected the image for FICXLAB, new section of the Gijón Film Festival

Imaginastur will design, as from next year, the logo of FICXLAB, the new section at Gijón International Film set to be launched in the next edition of the Festival, which celebrates its 51st this year and will take place from this coming 15 to 23 November. FGICXLAB seeks to give visibility to types of images whose halfway position between visual arts and film make it difficult to find a niche in either commercial cinemas or in film-based forums which are more focused on an almost literal, narrative type.

LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial and Gijón International Film Festival have signed a collaboration agreement with the purpose of introducing video art and experimental film in the context of a film festival like the one in Gijón.

As part of the activities and with the collaboration of Gijón Creativo [Gijón Creative], a competition has been launched to give a graphic identity to this new section through the creation of a logotype.

The jury, formed by a representative of FICX, another from LABoral Centro de Arte in Gijón and a member from the City Council linked to the development of the Gijón Creativo project selected the proposal by Imaginastur, who have imagined an identity that includes part of the buttons for audiovisual playback (play, rec, pause). According to Nacho Álvarez, creator of Imaginastur in June this year, “For all of us they are necessary and familiar, which is why we believe that the final result is one of a fresh graphic identity, easy to recognise and, above all, one which shows us and represents the content which we want to shape into a single image”.

Imaginastur is dedicated to the creation from scratch of graphic identities, brands packaging... for all types of companies or, alternatively, the refreshment of them. Additionally they take care of the later development of its implementation, visual communication and printing in any kind of format. Its slogan is: “nothing is done without first being imagined”.

The design logotype, for which the winners will receive a prize of 800 euros gross, will be used to identify this new section from the festival’s 2014 edition onwards.
