Starting at 9pm this Friday, 25 March, the duo Las CasiCasiotone, with visuals by Adrián Cuervo, and Annie Hall, with visuals by Rob Loren, will take part in a concert at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón The music session, with free entrance, is part of the LABvisiónica Festival which has been taking place at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial since last December.
Aimed at people interested in creative expressions arising from new media, the festival has returned to Gijón, after several years of being held in Oviedo. In collaboration with LABoral, its curator Roberto Lorenzo has organised a diverse programme in which the common denominator has been the presentation of actions and proposals based on the search for new audiovisual languages in order to create alternative experiences in cinema and video-art.
Las CasiCasiotone (Asturias) is a music project formed by Asturian artists. For the past three years they have been exploring a new direction together, combining their different music backgrounds in an autodidactic way, and at the same time, sharing numerous sessions as DJs. After spending so many hours together they decided to immerse themselves in a joint music production and build up a flexible and open work, giving room to improvisation and change. Their sounds take us to far-off places, invoking different atmospheres and dreamlike landscapes which are produced by their experimentation with analogical and digital instruments. The music in their live performances follow each another in such a way that the cuts disappear and the tracks no longer sound like individual entities but merge together in a global concept.
As well as music production, they organise the CasiMiniFest several times a year, which is a small underground festival hosting electronic music groups who have moved away from the usual sounds and techniques in music production. Also part of the electronic music platform Beatfull Day, they have recently given concerts in the VI Edition of the Optica International Festival of Video-art in Gijón and at LABoral, Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial. http://lascasicasiotone.blogspot.com
Adrián Cuervo is one of the most well-known figures in emerging art in Asturias. His work is centred on new media, audiovisual and sound art and produces objects which stimulate reflection on issues related to capitalist and consumerist society, perceptions of reality and philosophy from the aesthetics of plastic poetry.http://www.adriancuervo.com/
Annie Hall (Madrid). DJ and producer in Madrid’s underground electronic scene. As a DJ, she gives sessions swinging from idm to electro, acid to techno... all mixed with good taste and live on the dance floor. She has shared cabin with the biggest names (Laurent Garnier, Model 500, Legowelt, Rude 66, Dynarec, Convextion, Dj Stingray 313...) As a producer, her elaborative technique draws us into authentic mental journeys in advanced electronic music, which is moving and expressive and suitable for the dance floor or for listening to at home.http://www.myspace.com/analogica
Roberto Lorenzo (Rob Loren) is a creator, a precursor and a discursive artist. Rob is one of the best visual artists in Asturias, growing and maturing in a natural sense. www.robloren.net
