LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial and the Port of Gijon call a second edition of the Grant Ciencias del Mar. This annual call is aimed at granting a production residency for an art project that revolves around the sea and the ocean and makes a creative use of technology.
This grant is addressed to artists born or living in the Principality of Asturias. Those interested in receiving the residence must submit a project together with the documentation established in the bases of the call annexed hereto, by May 20, 2016 at noon.
The residency will have a maximum duration of 6 weeks between May and July 2016. During this period the artist will have a working space. The grant will cover all expenses deriving from the residency -2.800 Euros- as fees, production, travel and accommodation. Moreover, the artist will have access to all the technical and human resources of LABoral (including assembly and dismounting).
The winning projects will be selected by a jury made up by a representative of LABoral Centro de Arte, a representative of the Port Authority of Gijon and an external jury.
Projects will be assessed against the following criteria: the artistic and cultural value, their suitability to the proposed artistic framework, the need to use the resources of Plataforma 0 Centro de Producción, the feasibility of execution with the existing budget and deadlines and its technical feasibility.
The project selected will be shown at LABoral Centro de Arte, between July and October 2016.
