LABoral will host a PhotoBook Club session on 31 January

PhotoBook Club is a meeting aimed at sharing and discussing photography books and their authors.

This coming Thursday 31 January, LABoral will hold a PhotoBook Club session, a monthly informal meeting aimed at sharing and discussing photography books and their authors.  After passing through other cities including Madrid, Murcia, Barcelona, Oporto and Coimbra, this activity will hold its January session at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial, Gijón, from 6 pm onwards at the Mediateca_Archivo.

The PhotoBook Club meetings are held monthly and the session in Gijón is organised by GRITO, a cultural association that seeks to involve the public in the process and enjoyment of the most contemporary art.   Through curator and dissemination programmes, GRITO aims to establish a link between the present context and creation in the younger art world.

In this case, the association wished that the Asturian city become part of this network based around photography, its artists and books, which meets up on the last Thursday of every month for an informal meeting on this question, free from conventionalism and hierarchies. The idea is simple: all of the participants bring along a photography book which they particularly like to the get-together and share it with the other attendants.
