LABoral organises the pitch-cycle concert for three performers, bicycles and things, played with bicycle parts
This peculiar concert is organised jointly with the citizen movement “30 days on bicycle” and will be performed by Laboral's resident artists Pedro Menchaca, Aníbal Menchaca and Diego López. Free entrance until filled to capacity and every one is encouraged to come with their bicycles

A unique and singular experimental music around bicycles, the Pitch-cycle Concert for 3 performers, bicycles and things will take place next April 2 at half past noon (Sala de Proyectos) and will be performed using bicycle parts, such as the bike bell or the crank. This is one of the activities carried out by the art collective made up by Pedro Menchaca, Aníbal Menchaca and Diego López during their residency at LABoral, that takes place between January 18 and April 30.
The project Tour Mallets is based on the idea of these three Asturian artists to create an audiovisual piece around the world of bicycles. They do this using as main instruments parts of a bicycle as well as more conventional instruments, combined with visuals related with the world on bicycles and its evolution in time guiding spectators through an experimental as well as fun and recreational journey.
Pedro Menchaca's (Gijón, 1977) main goal in life is “filling the planet with weird music”, what he does through the “Vericuetos” programme (Radio Kras) and festival, as well as making noise in bands such as Colmena, Improviso or Antón/Menchaca, in addition to occasional sonic ambiences and performances, among other activities.
Aníbal Menchaca (Gijón, 1981), musician and art amateur, has composed sound tracks for short films: Humo, 2011 and Pera, 2013, which he also directed. He has recorded twelve discs with several Asturian bands and has published a poetry book, Circunscipción de la Garrapata (Suburbia, 2015).
Diego López Uruñuela is a young man from Avilés who, while working in a sports shop discovered the effect caused by the vibrations of bike bells on customers' behaviour. Hence the idea to combine his two great passions: Music and sport.
This residency is part of the programme Oficina de Proyectos, an open call launched by LABoral addressed to Asturian artists in need of some help to carry out their art projects.
