LABoral launches a bloggers blog to give a new vision of its activity

LABoral has set up a blog aimed at giving a new vision of the activity at the Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón. Hosted on the Centre’s website, LABlog is a collaborative project by independent bloggers interested in art and new cultural forms.
Through their writings in this space, week by week the reader can discover a more personal vision of the activities at LABoral and contemporary art practices from the different perspectives of the eight participants in the project. Laura Cano, José Luis Calderón, Nuria García, Semíramis González, Montaña Hurtado, Marta Lorenzo, Román Torre and Naiara Valdano handle the content and inform on everything that is happening at LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial.
At a time when cultural institutions and museums are reinventing themselves and searching for new ways of communicating, LABlog highlights LABoral’s commitment to the collaborative model and the direct language of blogs in its aim to establish closer ties with its audiences.
THE COLLABORATORS
Laura Cano Coca. Art historian with a Master’s degree in Museum Studies. She has worked at different museums and contemporary art centres including the Centro José Guerrero (Granada), CAC Málaga and MACRO (Rome). She has published specialised works on contemporary art and museology. She participates in collaborative curatorial projects such as La Exposición Expandida, Arte Cotidiano and with publishers including ARCO Bloggers.
She is the author of the blog La Caja Revuelta http://lacajarevuelta.blogspot.com.es/ in which she writes about contemporary art, museology and the relationship between them.

José Luis Calderón Aguirrezabala. Graduated in Art History from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid [Complutense University of Madrid] and in Hispanic Philology from the University of Navarra. An expert on contemporary art who has been a teacher of 20th Century Art and the Contemporary Art Market through the most important art galleries in Madrid at the Instituto Superior de Arte (Madrid). In the art market sector he has worked in the Juana de Aizpuru Gallery in Madrid and he was the foremost consultant on contemporary art in Spain at Untitled Art Consulting. He collaborates in co-ordinating cultural workshops with Museo ABC (Madrid) and in the coordination of the collector’s programme at the contemporary art fair Casa//Arte.

Nuria García. Graduated in Art History and holds a Master’s in Museums and Heritage from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. A museologist specialised in the fields of education and new technologies and part of the research group “SUMA, Universidad y Museo”. She has participated in numerous innovative educational projects at Complutense such as the Chasqui Project, VAEC-red, Museo como arte and MUSEOCAEA.ORG.
In addition she has formed part of various web projects including Premio Joven (UCM), Maratón Académico por Japón (UCM), Educathyssen (Museo Thyssen, Madrid), ARTEORIENTE (UCM), Doodle4Museums, Migrar es Cultura (Museo de América, Madrid), ARCObloggers, Veo Arte en todas pArtes and MVUF (Fundación Rafael Folch).

Semíramis González. Graduated in Art History and is currently preparing a Master’s in History of Contemporary Art and Visual Culture at the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid). Her publications include the catalogue for Arte con fecha de caducidad at LABoral Centro de Arte and her contributions to the cultural supplment El Cuaderno as well as her ongoing collaboration with the Plataforma de Arte Contemporáneo [Platform for Contemporary Art].
As a curator, she collaborated with the Lola Orato Gallery in La naturaleza del encuentro, a present project at ArteSantander 2011, and she was the coordinator of the first “Encuentro de espacios independientes de Asturias” [Meeting of Independent Spaces in Asturias] in 2011. Through her blog Semíramis en Babilonia she has participated in the ARCO Bloggers Project and in Just Madrid 2013.

Montaña Hurtado. Art historian specialised in interactive museography and open innovation applied to cultural project management. Author of the blog Zapatos Rosas, vicepresident of the Cultural Lemon y Coco Association, creator of the website Arte Actual Extremadura and head of a participative curatorship project through the blogs La Exposición Expandida. She has worked in the fields of museums, cultural communication and 2.0 and in exhibition curatorship.

Marta Lorenzo Jáudenes. Art historian and culture manager. She has worked in the Soledad Lorenzo Gallery (Madrid) and the Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid). At the moment, she combines her work as exhibition coordinator at LaAgencia and manager of the ARCOmadrid/BEEP de Arte Electrónico award. She also participates as guest blogger on the ARCO Bloggers online platform within the programme of Feria ARCOmadrid [the ARCOmadrid fair].
Her blog, My Art Diary, was born out of the idea of bringing a different and fresh vision of contemporary art exhibitions and to approach the passionate world of Culture 2.0 in an enjoyable and simple way.

Román Torre. Self-educated with a passion for binomial art and technology. He started working in design using recycled objects which were then transformed into interactive installations. From there, he gradually linked up with technological and visual projects in fields as diverse as dance, architecture and the design of applications and interactive systems. He is currently working with Pelayo Méndez in Welovecode, a studio based in Barcelona, through which they aim to explore the possibilities of code to create interactive software and hardware applied to different scenarios. From this platform, they try to apply their knowledge to develop creative ideas with the view focused on the integration of interactivity in all possible areas. This has allowed him to work in different projects and collaborations, interactive videomappings, trade shows and various operas, all with the director Carlos Padrissa de la Fura dels Baus.

Naiara Valdano Sáenz de Ugarte. She studied for a degree in Art History at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid [Complutense University of Madrid] and following this, a Master’s in Art Business at Sotheby´s Institute of Art in London. She has collaborated with the Fundación de Amigos of the Museo del Prado (Madrid) and with the Cynthia Corbett Gallery (London) in addition to working as a journalist for the magazine Trazos. At present, she is the personal assistant of an art curator, contributing editor for the Plataforma de Arte Contemporáneo (PAC) and author of the blog Art Gossips, launched in October 2011. Through this blog, Naiara has participated in Exposición Expandida, ARCO Bloggers and JustBloggers 2013.
