LABoral Centro de Arte y Creación Industrial in Gijón will be present at the Mercaplana 2012 Fair for Children and Young People, taking place from 22 December 2012 until 4 January 2013 at Gijón’s Luis Adaro Conference and Exhibition Centre. The art centre will run an animated film cycle with a selection of films specifically conceived and adapted for children and young people. The screenings will be shown every day at 6 pm in the space occupied by LABoral at the hall and can be accessed for free.

This reaffirms LABoral’s commitment to bringing the art centre’s activities closer to its audiences and contributing to the spreading of the most recent cultural forms emerging from new technologies.

Animation has always been present in the LABoral programme through various workshops and cinema cycles. This field is equally related to cinema and plastic arts, given its manual- and artisan-like nature. The aim now is to screen different films with a programme which includes anonymous films from the beginning of the 20th century, the pioneering works of the Spaniard Segundo de Chomón, Czech cinema from the 1960s, and also pieces made by GOBELIN, L’Ecole de L’Image - one of the most prestigious schools of contemporary animation based in France.
